The GATE Class offers experiences that differ from the regular classroom. Academically gifted students seem fascinated by new topics. By enriching their curriculum, Dr. Rains hopes to take your child to a different dimension of learning. Knowing that gifted students learn differently directs the curriculum of the Edmond Public Schools GATE Program.

Students will not use textbooks nor do assignments typically completed in the regular classroom. Our curriculum focuses on concepts, problem solving and allows opportunities for self-directed research. GATE students will work individually or in teams to problem solve, learn the value of team work, and considering other people’s ideas. Activities will cover different learning styles so students can shine in their strong areas, but also be encouraged to take risks.
